“Media activists” is an unique and innovative project of Culture Shock Foundation. Its goal is to create an original web game, that would help youth at a risk of digital exclusion (especially in small towns), to learn how to use new technologies and the Internet in a safe way. The project will also help participants to develop their communication skills, creativity, teamwork skills and teach them to undertake activities in the field of technology and new media.
The game will be presented during workshops, which are starting on autumn. It is supposed to be used as an educational tool, thanks to which its participants will be able to increase media, journalistic and technical skills. From a perspective of a player the aim of the game is to become the best “mediaspołecznik” (media activist) – a local journalist. The game will include: creating a blog, editing text, images, sound and graphics. Each time a player completes the game an Internet portal is established.
After completing the project the game will be made available on Creative Commons license. As a result, it will become available for young people, as well as various facilities interested in using solutions developed in the project.
The Project is co-founded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
